Literature in the Greek language before the fifth century AD is called
Ancient Greek literature. This literature includes the writing of Homer. The epic poems The Iliad (Troy or Trojan War)
and The Odyssey (Ulysses or Ulysses journey) are his two most famous works which
are still read today. Homer lived somewhere between 1102 BCE to 850 BCE at
least 168 years after the end of the Trojan War.
Tragedy, Drama and a form of Comedy began in what is known as the classical era around the fourth and fifth century BC. Some stories involve humans interacting or being puppets of the Greek gods. The rise and fall of powerful people, heroes and gods and the mistakes and choices they make. Many works did not survive the fall of Athens only reference or partial manuscripts show they existed.
