include the vending machine, gears [Antikythera Mechanism (a multi-geared device of unknown use)], screw, water screw, water clock, water
organ, rotary mills, screw press, plumbing, winch, central heating, caliper, bronze casting techniques, lighthouse, alarm clock, canal lock, astrolabe, odometer, gimbal, fire hose, torsion catapult
and tumbler lock. As today, many inventions were developed to
save time, reduce labor and improve weapons of war. Several
inventions were not fully exploited by the Greeks but by the Romans.
